This April I was delighted to be commissioned by Elixir Design to design and paint a botanical mural for their new hotel development in Brighton.

The Regency Rooms for Sigma Hotel are set within an elegant town house facing the Brighton sea front in Regency Square. The courtyard towards the rear of the building has windows facing onto it from many of the suites and was in need of some love. Take a look on my projects page to see the before and after images.

My design was inspired by Sussex coastal plants that grow in spring. Using specialist exterior paint by The Little Greene Paint Company, I began by painting abstracted organic shapes onto the wall before layering up with more delicate plants. This change in scale and technique brought movement and variation. I focused on White Bells, Wild Garlic and pink perenials which grow all around Brighton in spring.

This was a wonderful project to work on with a very inspiring and professional team and I can't wait to see the courtyard filled with plants ready for the hotel's grand opening.
